New Champion Crowned!

The Houston Astros have won the World Series for the first time in their history! This did not come easy against one of the best teams the Los Angeles Dodgers ever constructed. They fought against crowds and grueling temperatures, but in the end they are the champs.

The Astros were established as the Houston Colt .45’s and entered the National League as an expansion team in 1962.  Now, 55 Years later, they are popping the champagne,  reflecting on their journey, and enjoying the moment.  Only one team gets to celebrate at the end, which is why championships are always so very difficult.  It got me thinking, what is heaven celebrating these days? Is there ever a spontaneous party thrown where the angels are in an uproar and a party carries on like, well, like you just won the championship? The answer may surprise but yes, this happens daily! Let’s go to the book of Luke to see what all the commotion is about.

In Luke 15:7-10 it says:

7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.  8 “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’ 10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Can you picture what that statement above looks like for just a minute? A sinner, that is you and I, repents of his sins and turns his life over to Christ. This is no small deal in heaven. The angels have a real joy over this. Why? There is another soul that they will get to know for all eternity and get an opportunity to show heaven off to first hand! They will get to show you everything God has done and prepared for you forever.  And this isn’t a one time championship fleeting moment.  This is everlasting.  Are you on this winning team? Do you know this manager?  Are you part of the starting line-up?  God has done everything he possibly can to bring you home to his team in heaven to celebrate with you. Will you remove your no trade clause and join the angels, (and not the ones from Anaheim, but the heavenly host) and celebrate for all eternity?  You are up to bat and heaven is rooting for you.  Come join the team that will never trade you, always accepts you, and did everything possible to draft you.  I will be there and will save you a front row seat.  God Bless!
